The Pravetoni Lab

...towards novel therapies to treat prescription opioid abuse

Opportunities in the Pravetoni Lab

The Pravetoni Lab is actively expanding its roster of exceptional scientists. Whether as an undergraduate student looking for experience on the bench, or an MBA interested in marketing and sales of opioid abuse therapeutics and vaccines, the Pravetoni Lab welcomes you to review the information contained in the accordions below and submit your materials for consideration today!

To apply, e-mail a copy of your CV and a brief statement of interest to prave001 at umn dot edu.

Undergraduate students interested in our research are welcome to contact Dr. Pravetoni at the e-mail address listed above. There are numerous opportunities for students to gain experience as bench scientists, lab assistants, and general researchers.

Graduate students at the University of Minnesota are invited to rotate in the Pravetoni lab provided they meet certain eligibility requirements. They must be members of either the Departments of Pharmacology, Neuroscience, or Microbiology & Immunology or affiliated with the Medical School's Medical Discovery Team on Addiction. Students should also demonstrate an interest in the lab's research as demonstrated through their statement of objectives submitted through their graduate school application, or through previous undergraduate or postbaccalaureate research experience. Rotations typically last 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the student's program. The lab holds weekly meetings, and students will be expected to give progress updates throughout their rotation. At the conclusion of the rotation, students will meet with Dr. Pravetoni for an evaluation, and, if the student's performance was satisfactory, an offer to join the lab on a permanent basis will be extended.

The Pravetoni lab is seeking postdocs interested in the development of vaccines and antibody-based therapeutics to reduce opioid use disorders and opioid-related overdoses. Our unique multidisciplinary research program integrates rational vaccine design, immunomodulators, formulation/delivery platforms, pre-clinical models, analysis of B and T cell lymphocyte repertoire, GLP/GMP studies to support regulatory approval and clinical evaluation, and ad hoc industry collaborations. Our team is currently planning a Phase I clinical trial of vaccines targeting opioids. Strategies and platforms are currently applied to development of vaccines or antibodies to counteract fentanyl, fentanyl analogs, as well as other chemical threats. We are seeking an independent and motivated colleague interested in leading multidisciplinary projects as well as team efforts.

Because opioid abuse is so impactful, the Pravetoni lab works with a variety of disciplines to develop therapeutics against opioid dependency and related disorders. We have worked with MBAs and MDs from throughout the Twin Cities area on vaccine marketing and dosage therapies. If you aren't necessarily a research scientist but are interested in how the Pravetoni lab's research might help shape your discipline, please reach out to us.
